Sydney Holmes, formerly Sydney VanDiest, who attended the pre-nursing RHOP program at Chadron State College from 2011-2013 has received the Nurse Corps Scholarship from Health Resources & Services Administration.

This scholarship covers full tuition, books, any other related college expenses plus a monthly living stipend for the entire two years she is enrolled in the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Scottsbluff.

Holmes said, "I was astonished and taken by surprise when I opened the email saying that I was a recipient. I applied for the scholarship believing I would not receive it but there was always that small chance. I am so grateful that I took that chance".

Holmes’ scholarship values at approximately $60,000+ depending on variables at her location. Only about 200 students receive the award, from an applicant pool of over 3,000.

She said, "I am so thankful for professors like Ann Buchmann and Joyce Hardy at Chadron State College that helped me excel to where I am today". "I feel extremely honored by receiving this award".
